Role Overview
{Camp Name} is seeking experienced leaders to serve as Unit Leaders/Head Counselors at our six summer camps in {Location}. Unit Leaders play a critical role in the camp community by managing the day-to-day operations of specific camper age groups, supervising a staff of {of #}, and organizing activities. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with prior camp experience to take on a leadership role and support the success of the camp program.
This position requires living onsite at camp from {date range}, shared housing provided. Compensation for this role is {Compensation} for the summer.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and guide a team of {# of} counselors and oversee a village of {# of} campers.
Plan village activities and support counselors in coordinating cabin-level activities.
Lead staff meetings and provide regular feedback and evaluations for counselors.
Address camper and counselor behavioral challenges in collaboration with the Camper Support Services Liaison.
Serve as a role model for positive camper behavior management techniques.
Maintain active communication with campers, staff, parents, and fellow administrators.
Participate in all camp programming, including hikes, overnights, swimming, and camp-wide events.
Assist the Camp Director with camp-wide activities and maintain a strong presence in village events.
Submit reports, evaluations, and inventories as requested.
Ensure the safety and well-being of campers and staff at all times.
Model professionalism and a caring, supportive attitude while maintaining boundaries with staff.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old by the start of camp.
3+years of college or equivalent preferred; college graduates strongly preferred.
Extensive experience as a counselor or staff member in a residential camp setting.
Commitment to work and live onsite at camp for the entire summer season {date range}.
Prior supervisory experience required.
