Role Overview

{Camp Name} is hiring Registered Nurses to join the medical teams at our {# of} summer camps in beautiful {Location}. Spend your summer providing essential care to a vibrant camp community dedicated to creating unforgettable experiences for NYC underserved youth. Reporting to the Senior Camp Nurse, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the health and safety of campers and staff while enjoying the unique environment of overnight camp.

This position requires living onsite at camp from {Date Range of Job Need}, private housing provided. Compensation for this role is {Compensation Range} per week. Discounted camper tuition is available for candidates with children that would like to attend camp. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer medications and provide medical treatment to campers and staff as needed.

  • Assess medical needs, provide emergency care, and make referrals to medical facilities or specialists.

  • Conduct physical screenings for all staff and campers upon arrival.

  • Maintain accurate medical records and logs for all treatments and medications.

  • Ensure the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of camp facilities, including the kitchen, dining hall, bathrooms, and cabins.

  • Follow standing orders issued by the Medical Director and report serious matters to the Senior Camp Nurse.

  • Communicate with parents and {Camp Name} office regarding camper health as necessary.

  • Handle mandated reports for serious incidents or illnesses per Department of Health guidelines.

  • Participate in camp orientation and training, and assist with general camp programs as much as possible.

  • Be on-call during camp hours, except during scheduled time off.

Qualifications 

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in {State} OR be willing to obtain a temporary license prior to June 2025.

  • Open to out-of-state nurses or nursing graduates eligible to take the State Board of Nursing Exam by September 1.

  • B.S. in nursing preferred; minimum of AA degree required.

  • Current CPR certification and Responding to Emergencies certification (or willingness to participate in provided certification courses).

  • At least one year of nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics.

  • Strong assessment skills and the ability to work in a structured residential setting.

  • Available for the entire summer program duration.
